Tuesday February 19 08:03 AM EST Identity theft complaints rise sharply in San Jose By Rodney Foo, Mercury News In 1999, Fabian Cuevas' life was hijacked by a pair of thieves who stole his identity, and Cuevas has been paying for it -- literally -- ever since. The suspects racked up bench warrants and bad credit, all while using driver's licenses and credit cards obtained under his name. And even though Cuevas has been able to straighten out his problems with the law with the help of San Jose police, the fallout continues. ``The disruption, it's non-stop,'' Cuevas said, ``and it's still destroying my life, especially my credit.
